March 23, 2023 – There’s been a lot of chatter about consumer migratory patterns in the U.S. as influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic – the mass exodus from large cities, northerners flocking South, etc. Despite these speculations, one Law of Moving remains unchanged: most consumers who move remain in their home state. Turns out, movers from Texas prefer to remain Texans. Texas topped our list with 72.3% of its moves being in-state. Many factors influence these results, but we can say with certainty it’s not just the geographic appeal of the Southwest. New Mexico – right next door to Texas – nearly bottoms out at 43rd on our list.
